Al Duhail Head Coach Christophe Galtier praised his players for their effort and determination in their 3-1 victory over Al Sadd on Saturday.
“We faced the best team in the Expo Stars League today and we managed to beat them, which made our fans, players and everyone at the club happy,” Galtier said in a post-match interview. “We entered the field knowing that it was a very important match, despite our position in the league table, and it was important for us to win.”
Galtier continued: “The players worked hard to achieve this victory and they put in a great effort. They were determined and this was reflected in their good performance and fighting spirit until the final whistle.”
“We started the match well and we had more possession of the ball, but unfortunately we missed a penalty,” Galtier added. “However, we then managed to score the first goal with a great tactical move. Despite taking the lead, our players made a lot of mistakes, but fortunately the team’s goalkeeper (Shehab) was good and had a great game. He was decisive and made a number of saves, which kept our players focused.”
“We made some forced changes, which made me change the game plan,” Galtier stated. “I asked the players to put in more effort to achieve victory, and this was clear as the players were defending together and attacking together. This allowed us to score some great goals and come out with this victory that made everyone happy.
