Al Moez Ali, the team captain, described Al Duhail match versus Qatar in the first round of the Qatar Stars League as difficult. The player said in the pre-match press conference held yesterday evening in the club press conference hall: “We have a difficult match ahead versus a team that managed to defeat us twice last season. We must be at our peak focus on the field to achieve a result that pleases our fans.”
Al Moez added: “We are ready for a good start to the season after playing a number of friendly matches in our preparatory camp in Austria, where the players performed well, and their focus and determination to deliver a good season were evident. This will happen with everyone’s cooperation and continuous work to compensate for what happened last season.”
Commenting on his presence with the team in the preparatory camp, Al Moez said: “In previous seasons, I and my international teammates missed participating in the team preparatory camps due to national team commitments. This is the first time in six years that I’ve been with the team during the preparation period, and certainly, this will have a great benefit because the camp created harmony among all players, and we learned the technical staff strategy, which will benefit me and give me the motivation to be effective in the team’s lineup and help my teammates return to the path of victories and achieve titles. Although we won’t be participating in the Champions League this season for the first time, we will turn this into a motivation for us to win titles. All I hope for is that injuries stay away from my teammates, and now our focus is on our first match and how to come out of it with a positive result.”
Commenting on the joining of player Luiz Alberto, the captain said: “Last season, Coutinho played with us, and he is a great player, but injuries did not give him the opportunity to give his full effort with the team. However, this season, Luiz Alberto joined us, and he is a great player and will be a great addition to the team. I am sure he will perform well after excelling with us in the preparatory matches.”
