Al Duhail Head Coach Christophe Galtier, expressed his satisfaction with today’s victory over Al Shamal, ahead of the upcoming international break. He made these remarks in a special statement to the club official website following the match.
Galtier began his statements by saying: We achieved a wonderful victory tonight after approaching the match with great seriousness, unlike the last two matches where we did not perform as required.
He added: From the kick-off whistle, our players delivered an outstanding performance and managed to score two quick goals deservedly. After taking a three-goal lead, the performance declined slightly, which is something we will work to rectify and address. This led to Al Shamal returning to the game and scoring a goal to reduce the difference.
He went on saying: In the second half, we played with greater seriousness despite a lack of clinical finishing. We were able to give some young players a chance, although signs of fatigue were apparent in some of them.
He continued: I am very happy with the performance of the players who have not played for a long time and were waiting for a chance to participate. The appearance of some fatigue on Edmilson is what prompted us to rest him and not start him today. We have a long break to prepare for what is to come and to recover all the players, but the victory was very important before this break.
Galtier concluded: The victories of all our direct competitors have intensified the competition, and the season is still long and tough. All teams will be looking to win and chase the top spot, so we must never relax and strive to achieve our goals and win the league title.
