Khalifa Al-Sulaiti, Vice-President of the club, praised the great level in which the team played lately, and winning the Emir’s Cup title this evening.
Al-Sulaiti said in statements to the club’s official website: “I congratulate His Excellency Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad Al Thani, the club’s president, the players, the technical and administrative staff, and the Al Duhail fans for the well earned title which the team won for the fourth time in its history. After playing an amazing match and achieving the championship.”
Khamis said: “We went through many ups and downs at the beginning of the season that affected the expected level of the team’s players and caused us to lose the league title, but the players regained their focus and their injuries healed, so the good performance was evident in the team’s last matches.”
Al-Sulaiti continued: “Today we will rejoice with our players and with the team’s fans, but we will participate in the AFC Champions League, we want the team to present its true level, which reflects the development of Qatari football and reaches the farthest point in the competition.”
Mr. Khalifa concluded: “Coach Luis Castro’s career with the team ended today, and we extend our thanks and appreciation to him for the great effort he made with the players during the period in which he took charge of the team technically. Good luck to him in his future endeavours.”
