Al Duhail Head Coach Christophe Galtier expressed his frustration with the team’s loss tonight to Al Ahli in Round 12 of the league. In a statement to the official website after the match, the coach said: “We experienced a great disappointment after today’s defeat, which is part of a series of losses we have suffered recently. Despite scoring three goals in this game, unfortunately, we conceded five goals, which is unacceptable.”
The coach continued: “We started the match with a quick setback, conceding two goals in the first 4 minutes. Although we managed to respond, unfortunately, we couldn’t change the result despite the opportunities that came our way. As I mentioned before, we are conceding too many goals.”
Galtier added: “Now is the time for a period of rest, and afterwards, we will need to work intensively to improve our defensive performance and increase our ball possession. We are capable of scoring goals, but not conceding is more crucial.”
He said, “We concluded the first phase of the league, which was disappointing. We have a whole month to prepare for the second phase, and I hope we can rearrange our strategies and achieve better results.”
Commenting on the mistakes in today’s match, the coach said: “I won’t blame the players or the performance they presented during the match, the way they played, and their efforts. However, we conceded goals in a strange manner. When we score three goals at our home stadium and still don’t win, it means there are significant individual errors that appeared during the match, and that will be the focus of our work in the coming period.”
The coach concluded: “I hope to have the missing players back, in good physical and technical condition, as they are important to us. I wish all the fans of the club and those who support us a happy New Year, and I look forward to seeing them with us in the second phase of the league.
