Al Duhail Head Coach Christophe Galtier attributed his team’s draw versus Al Markhiya on Wednesday to the players’ hastiness and lack of accuracy in finishing the attack.
“We played a difficult match in which we put in a lot of physical effort against a team that played well, which is what they have shown since the start of the second part of the league,” Galtier said in a statement to the club’s official website after the match.
“Despite that, we were the first to create a chance through Olunga in the first few minutes, and we were fighters on the pitch. We put in a lot of effort, but unfortunately we didn’t manage to find the back of the net.”
Galtier added: “In the second half, we had much more control and played a lot of balls inside the opponent’s area, but as I said before, we lacked accuracy, concentration, and the final touch. Sometimes we were too hasty, perhaps because of a lack of confidence. We are going through a difficult time at the moment, which is leading to a lack of technical accuracy and concentration on the pitch.
“We failed on a technical level in attack, and there were some dangerous attempts on our goal, but our goalkeeper was decisive and made good saves and had a great game.”
The coach concluded: “We are a team going through difficult times, and sometimes when you can’t win, you shouldn’t lose. Today we didn’t win, but we didn’t lose either. We have to keep working and the players have to regain their confidence. We will come back to winning ways, but we need to work together and talk to each other to get out of this difficult situation.
