The team lost their match to Al Wakrah in Round 17 of the Expo Stars League by two goals to one in the match that took place at Al Janoub Stadium and kicked off at 08:30 pm, bringing the team’s points tally to 19.
The first half of the match started with clear control from Al Duhail, who managed to take over the midfield area and put Al Wakrah players under pressure from continuous offensive attempts until they managed to score their first goal in the 25th minute by the Kenyan striker Michael Olunga after a ball that Al Wakrah defenders failed to clear.
After the goal, Al Wakrah tried to move forward in order to equalize the score, but the brilliance of goalkeeper Shehab Al Laithi and the defenders kept the danger away from the goal until the referee blew his whistle to announce the end of the first half with the team leading by one goal to nil.
In the second half, the team entered the field looking for the second goal, and Michael Olunga missed a clear scoring opportunity, after which Al Wakrah managed to equalize the score with a goal scored by their player Khaled Ali in the 61st minute.
In the third minute of added time, Al Wakrah scored their second goal with a header from their striker Mohamed Ben Yattou.
