Al Duhail Head Coach Christophe Galtier expressed his sadness at the team result versus Al Wakrah, and the coach said in a statement to the official website after the end of the match: A painful defeat that leaves negative effects on the minds of the players, as it came in the last moments of the game after a good performance in which all the players exerted a lot of effort and fought on the field.
Christophe said: The first half was encouraging and we scored a goal, and we created many scoring opportunities. If we had been able to convert them into goals, we would have returned to the field with a comfortable lead. But unfortunately that didn’t happen.
The coach added: In the second half, things were more difficult, despite having some chances, but the mistake we made resulted in an equalizer. We took a risk in a risky area, which allowed the opponent to get the ball and score. At that moment, there was a loss of confidence and a deviation in the team’s performance, even though we had some good chances after that, including a clear scoring opportunity for Olunga before Al Wakrah’s equalizer. The goal from a corner kick which did a lot of harm to the team, both in terms of the result and the morale of the players, but we must continue to stay united and cohesive, to continue working and exerting more efforts.
