Our first football team manager, Christophe Galtier, expressed his happiness with the team 1-0 victory over Umm Salal in Round 3 of the Ooredoo Stars League.
Galtier confirmed that the match was difficult versus an opponent who defended deeply and relied on counterattacks, which did not pose any significant threat except for one opportunity from a set piece.
He added, “I am completely satisfied with the control we exerted during this match. We managed to stop all counter-attack attempts on our defence. We pressed with high intensity against Umm Salal defence, which was positioned deep.”
Galtier continued, “We had to find solutions to counter the opponent defensive tactics by playing on the wings, which we didn’t do enough in the first half. This changed completely in the second half, as our attacks from the wings increased and diversified. We wasted many chances and lacked precision in the final touch, but I am sure that our victory was deserved and logical.”
Our coach added, “Despite the opponent’s pressure on our defence in the final minutes, our defence dealt with all attempts strongly and skillfully. We could have increased our goal tally in this match.”
Galtier concluded his statements: “The most important point is that we achieved our third consecutive win and collected three points. This is a perfect start for us, the players, and everyone.
