Al Duhail Head Coach, Christophe Galtier, expressed his disappointment following the team’s unexpected loss to Al Shahania in Round 6 of the Ooredoo Stars League.
Galtier stated: Clearly, it’s a huge disappointment to lose to Al Shahania, especially after the first half where we allowed our opponent to dictate the play. We lacked intensity, precise passing, and the ability to regain ball possession quickly.
He added: We needed to be more tenacious and aggressive in controlling the ball. Despite creating numerous opportunities, we couldn’t capitalize on them.
Galtier continued: The first half was defensively poor. We lacked coordination and discipline, which resulted in us conceding two goals.
He further elaborated: Things improved slightly in the second half, but we made too many technical errors against a well-organized and compact defence. It was difficult to break them down, and their goalkeeper made several saves. We also rushed our attacks and didn’t utilize our wingers effectively.
Galtier concluded: We lacked that final touch and the ability to link up our wingers. This result is a real blow to our campaign after a good start to the season. We were hoping for a win tonight, but ultimately, we have no one to blame but ourselves. We didn’t adhere to our game plan or perform at a level that would have secured us victory in this match.
