Galtier: Fluctuating Performance Cost Us a Win Against Al Gharafa…

Al Duhail Head Coach Christophe Galtier expressed his dissatisfaction with the draw versus Al Gharafa in tonight’s game, in a statement to the club official website following the match.

Galtier began his statement by saying: We played two different halves tonight. In the first half, we started somewhat balanced, and despite that, we had two dangerous chances but lacked speed of movement, which prevented our team from imposing its usual style.

Galtier added: We could have offered more during the first half thanks to our speed of play, but perhaps the tension that was evident on our team at the beginning of the first half was due to our good knowledge of the danger posed by some of Al Gharafa attacking players. However, the first half was generally average in terms of performance.

He then continued: In the second half, the team’s coordination and harmony increased, and we had more attacking opportunities, which helped us score our beautiful first goal, and we were close to a second goal if it weren’t for some rashness in finishing the attacks.

Galtier went on to say: Of course, when you miss chances against a strong team like Al Gharafa, as happened when Al Gharafa equalized from a cross due to poor positioning by our players, you will be punished.”

He added: Overall, the team was much better at the collective level compared to the previous match versus Al Ahli, and I think we only played our style in one half. If we had continued at this pace throughout the match, the result would have changed, and we would have won the match. But when you don’t take advantage of your chances, of course, the opponent will punish you.”

Galtier concluded: Of course, we are not satisfied with the draw, but it has happened, and we must now look to the next match versus Al Shamal and focus on collecting points without looking at the team position in the league table.
