Galtier: We’ve overcome the difficult times we faced last season. Ferguson and Ancelotti are my coaching idols…

In a press conference held during the opening session of the Aspire Global Summit 2024, Al-Duhail First Football Team Head Coach Christophe Galtier, discussed his coaching experience and his journey with the club in Qatar.

Galtier began by saying: Last season was very difficult, and we went through bad periods with the players, the club, and the fans as well. This pushed us to reorganize things, as we made many changes during the summer break, including changes to the players. The start of this season has been good, but the league is still long, and we must maintain our realism and humility.

Galtier added: When I was a player, I wanted to become a coach. For me, Sir Alex Ferguson and Carlo Ancelotti are examples and coaching role models. I have learned a lot from them, such as getting close to the players in the dressing room. My work is not just about training and winning; I also care a lot about my relationships with people.

Galtier continued: Being a Head Coach requires you to prepare your team quickly for the next match through weekly training sessions. Then, at the start of the match, the players take over, and you can make some tactical changes within five minutes during the halftime. I don’t like to dictate roles to the players on the field; they should give their best and be creative.
