Al Duhail football team Head Coach Christophe Galtier expressed his dissatisfaction with the goalless draw versus Al Rayyan in a special statement to the club official website, citing numerous errors made by his players.
Galtier added: We faced a very good and well-organized team. It was a balanced match between both sides. We lacked positivity and effectiveness in building attacks due to the disjointed lines, which is unusual for us.
He continued: We had two chances to score, but Al Rayyan was generally more dangerous in the first half. Fortunately, our goalkeeper was decisive in keeping a clean sheet.
Galtier added: In the second half, we performed better after making some adjustments to the players’ positioning in order to have more control of the ball. But the turning point in the match was the red card for Al Rayyan player. Despite this, we couldn’t take advantage of this numerical superiority optimally.
He continued: Clearly, we lacked precision in building attacks today and lost the ball too quickly in many situations. In addition, we didn’t have enough of our players inside the opponent’s penalty area, specifically Luis Alberto and Junior Edmilson, but they were far from being dangerous in front of Al Rayyan goal area.
He went on to say: We should have been more patient in building attacks and not rushed, in addition to creating spaces on the flanks, which led us to the final result of a goalless draw in tonight’s game.
Galtier concluded: Of course, it’s disappointing to draw today, especially given our numerical advantage and knowing that our rivals stumbled after Al Sadd and Al Ahli lost to Qatar and Al Gharafa, which we didn’t take advantage of optimally. But I’m sure we didn’t deserve more than a draw due to the offensive and tactical mistakes made by our players. The result is disappointing, but we must learn from our mistakes and continue working to improve our performance.
