Galtier: We achieved a deserved victory, but I am not satisfied with the performance we delivered today…

Frenchman Christophe Galtier, Al Duhail Football Team Head Coach expressed in an exclusive statement to the club official website that he was not satisfied with the performance of his players during today’s match versus Umm Salal, which ended with Al Duhail winning 2-1 and maintaining their lead at the top of the Ooredoo Stars League standings table.

Galtier began his remarks by saying: It was a precious victory, especially given the difficulty of the first half. We were aware of the importance of this match after the gap with our competitors narrowed to just one point, and we needed to restore it to four points, which we managed to do in the final minutes of the match.

He continued: We created many dangerous opportunities in the first half, but we lacked the fighting spirit in quickly recovering the ball. The opponent managed to score a fantastic goal through Osama Tannane, but overall, we were not at our best in the first half.

Galtier added: Fortunately, we scored the equalizer before the end of the first half, which gave us a strong morale boost to continue performing better. This was achieved with the changes we made after scoring the winning goal through Abdullah Al Ahrak. At the start of the second half, we made some substitutions, and the impact of the substitutes was evident as they helped us secure a deserved victory.

He further stated: At this stage, we are facing many challenges and difficulties, and it is essential for the substitutes to provide the required technical contribution, especially in terms of physical fitness, which is very important.

Galtier concluded: We are now focusing on the upcoming match versus Al Wakrah next week. It is crucial to correct the mistakes we made in today’s game because there were some technical aspects that were not satisfactory in terms of performance. As I mentioned after the previous match versus Al Rayyan, I was not satisfied with the performance of some players. We need to address these issues to enter the next match with greater confidence and better control over the flow of the game.
